About Us

Welcome to the South Tipp Cycling Club. The club has been in existence since September 2012 and is growing rapidly. If you would like to become a member, please contact us here:

Find us on Facebook and Instagram

We often hold Club Cycles in the evenings midweek. Please contact a member of the club for details if you wish to attend. We also have a very active mountain bike scene in our club, which sees club members out on their bikes every weekend for social spins and competing in mountain bike Enduro and Cross Country races. We have also held our own Enduro races in Scaragh Woods, Cahir. If you are interested in Mountain Biking and would like to join us, please contact a club member. We would like to thank our sponsors, including Keary’s Hyundai, Boston Scientific, Hankook, and Eamon Gleeson Tyres. Without their support, we could not function as a club.

Committee Members

Mick Brett

Chair Person

Mick has been a club member since 2019. Besides being an avid cyclist (both Road and Mountain), Mick is an expert in Karate and has participated in competitions all across the globe. His favourite memory on the bike was participating in the Tour de Burren with Sean Kelly and Sam Bennett.  A great organizer, Mick was instrumental in bringing the Ras Tailteann stage finish to Cahir in 2024 and makes sure the club calendar stays well stocked with events. Mick lives in Cahir.

David O’Gorman

Club Secretary

David joined the club in 2019 upon returning to Ireland after a long stint overseas. The club was a great way to stay fit while meeting new friends and settling in back home. Besides cycling, David likes to sail and particularly enjoys the Waterford coast.  His favorite day on the bike was the ride down and back up the legendary Sa Calobra climb in Mallorca on the STCSS club tour in 2023 - 10km of climbing with 26 hairpin bends. But the views were breathtaking. David lives in Clogheen.

Kevin O’Keeffe

Treasurer

Kevin also joined the club in 2019. Besides being a very steady hand overseeing the club finances, Kevin is a keen supporter of Cork hurling - his native county. Kevin was also key to bringing the Ras Tailteann to Cahir and to making it so successful. He mentions the club outing to Mallorca as his best memory on the bike, Sa Calobra and all!   Kevin lives in Ardfinnan.

Anthony Russell

Anthony joined the club in 2022 - also upon returning from a stint overseas. Besides being the designated Safeguarding Officer, Anthony also sets the route in advance each week for the Sunday club spins - something that is very much appreciated by the rest of the club. Besides cycling, Anthony is a keen 'cold dipper' who takes advantage of the local (cold!) mountain streams. Anthony's favorite memory on the bike was the 2023 Cliffs of Moher sportif where his performance is still legendary within the club. Anthony lives in Burncourt.
